about

As it says in my bio, I'm originally from Brooklyn New York, but have been a southern boy since I was 13 years old. Well, one night at a gig in Memphis, I mentioned that little tidbit to the audience, and someone yelled out, "just what do your folks think about you now, playing & singing cowboy... you ... you Damn Yankee!! " She became one of my best friends, and the inspiration for this song....

lyrics

Damn Yankee Cowboy Bob Sawyer

Well I come from the land of the New York second,
where everybody’s moving too fast
They got buildings so high that they kiss the sky
I think I once saw some grass
Well the cardiacle strife of the big city life,
You know it wasn’t hap’nin for me
So I got me some boots and this ol’ cowboy hat,
and went seachin for the land of the free

So I headed South,
I just pointed my boots and let em’ take the lead
Yeah, I was Born in New York City Hoss,
but thank God I ended up in Tennessee

Well I tried my hand at the suit and tie plan,
but friends let me tell ya what
All that Wall St chatter was all that seemed to matter,
it was nuthin but a pain in the butt
They got all day nights and all night days,
and they squeeze some time in between
Aww this may sound funny, makin all that money,
but brother, that’s not my scene

So I headed South,
Just pointed my boots and let em’ take the lead
I was Born in New York City Hoss,
but thank God I ended up in Tennessee
You’z guys turned to ya’lls in no time at all,
It’s amazin how quick I fit in
I got a friend Bubba and his wife a Bubba-lou,
They got no family but they got lots'a kin
Three Cats, Five Dogs livin under the porch,
two horses and a pot-bellied pig
Well this may not be the city, but I’m sure sittin pretty,
Pass that jug or take another swig

Yeah I’m in the South,
Aww, I pointed my boots, now I’m here to stay
I was Born in New York City Hoss,
but thank God I ended up in Tennessee
Yeah, they call me a Damned ol’ Yankee man,
but I found heaven right here in Memphis, Tennessee
