Twelve Steps Away ( from getting over you ) © Cowboy Bob Sawyer No I don’t have problems with whiskey, for that, I don’t need a special plan I can drink all day and dance the night away, with a bourbon in each hand No it’s not what’s in the bottle, that’s kept me feelin blue You see Darlin, I’m just twelve steps away, from getting over you No I couldn’t eat or sleep for days, when you told me we’re through The pain balled up in side of me, everytime I thought of you They say time will heal all heartaches, They’ll have to show me it’s true Oh Darlin, I’m just twelve steps away, from getting over you Steps one through four were the hardest, they nearly drove me insane Five through eight got easier, till you played your little game Step nine you called me up, and I fell back down to two I woke up to you this morning, now I’m 12 steps from away, from getting over you Back into my life so easy, I stood there and held the door Back into willing arms held wide, to hold you like before Back into a open heart, that knows, you’ll be leavin me when your through Then Darlin’ , I’ll be twelve steps away, from getting over you.

Heroes & Outlaws © Cowboy Bob.Sawyer - 2003 I was just a young boy when I heard my first Johnny Cash song And it didn’t take much before I was dancing and singin along While others rocked & rolled, I was riding that train I could see the prison yards yeah, I was feeling his pain I guess that man from Tennessee had a way, of making me feel right But now my heroes and outlaws are quickly fading into the night When I first started to drive I heard Waylon on the Radio He was singin bout a Cowboy's momma from deep down in soul He was the Black-sheep that Nashville turned their backs on then Thank God he kept on singin, 'changed my life again There was something bout that high ridin outlaw that made me feel right But now my heroes and outlaws have quickly faded into the night Yeah the heroes of today don’t have what they had back then It's just glitter & gold, that's all the outlaws want to win But If you stand your own line, you’ll make your own time, Just like Hank Williams / (Jr.) did Singin songs from the soul, that made us all feel right But now our hero’s and outlaws are quickly fading into the night

Damn Yankee 03:54
Damn Yankee Cowboy Bob Sawyer Well I come from the land of the New York second, where everybody’s moving too fast They got buildings so high that they kiss the sky I think I once saw some grass Well the cardiacle strife of the big city life, You know it wasn’t hap’nin for me So I got me some boots and this ol’ cowboy hat, and went seachin for the land of the free So I headed South, I just pointed my boots and let em’ take the lead Yeah, I was Born in New York City Hoss, but thank God I ended up in Tennessee Well I tried my hand at the suit and tie plan, but friends let me tell ya what All that Wall St chatter was all that seemed to matter, it was nuthin but a pain in the butt They got all day nights and all night days, and they squeeze some time in between Aww this may sound funny, makin all that money, but brother, that’s not my scene So I headed South, Just pointed my boots and let em’ take the lead I was Born in New York City Hoss, but thank God I ended up in Tennessee You’z guys turned to ya’lls in no time at all, It’s amazin how quick I fit in I got a friend Bubba and his wife a Bubba-lou, They got no family but they got lots'a kin Three Cats, Five Dogs livin under the porch, two horses and a pot-bellied pig Well this may not be the city, but I’m sure sittin pretty, Pass that jug or take another swig Yeah I’m in the South, Aww, I pointed my boots, now I’m here to stay I was Born in New York City Hoss, but thank God I ended up in Tennessee Yeah, they call me a Damned ol’ Yankee man, but I found heaven right here in Memphis, Tennessee

One More Time © Cowboy Bob Sawyer - 2003 Sittin under the apple tree Holdin hands just my baby and me, It’s alright, Yeah, it’s alright A little smile,a flirt and a kiss, I never knew that love could be like this, It’s so right, oh, such a night Out pops the stars and the big ol’ moon, Take her home, but it’s way to soon, Can’t wait to hold that girl, one more time Can’t seem to get her out of my head, From mornings light till I hit the bed Just gotta hold that girl, one more time I take her hand and she takes mine, a white veil and a long white gown, She’s so fine, God, she’s really mine A life of lovin’s in-store for me, It all started with that apple tree It’s alright, yeah it’s alright The years go by , all to soon, Our bodies age, but not our youth Can’t wait to hold that girl one more time We still sit under that apple tree, Holding hands just my baby and me And thank the lord each night, For one more time

She’s Always Righter © Cowboy Bob Sawyer - 2003 You know I love that girl with sweet honey hair she’s the apple of my eye We’ve been together for all of these years, I love her more as the years go by But like a fine aging wine, she's a product of time And I’m startin to see an ornry side of her Well I can be Dead on and totally right…. But she’s always righter You see they got this thing called an automobile I’ve been driving dang near all my life It always worked fine, got me places on time Till I installed a little thing called a wife Well, It didn’t take long till she showed me I was wrong Every trip, every turn she was wiser… Well I can be Dead on and totally right…. But she’s always righter Well I can say Blue, she says Cyan, I don’t know why I even try, She don’t argue, she just disagrees , with fire in dem’ dare’ eyes She can make mistakes, and be totally wrong, But it’s more trouble than it’s worth to fight her… Cause I can be Dead on and totally right…. But she’s always righter She’s my sweetie pie honey, my rolly polly bunny and I’ll love her till death do us part But on that final day of fate, she’ll beat me to that gate and with St. Peter she’ll be arm in arm She’ll be gripin bout the weather, how she could do it better, if the Good Lord would only let her…. Well he may be God, ya know he’s always right… but she’s only righter Yeah, he may be GOD, but even he can’t fight… cause she’s always righter

Typical Southern Man © Cowboy Bob Sawyer - 2003 I Still Wear my old Blue Jeans… I’ve got three flannel shirts and a bunch of old Tees’ I wear my boots to work and when I’m out on the town… I kick my heels to that sweet country sound I don’t need no fancy suit to prove I’m a man, No High dollar job, no bank account plan I get soot on my boots and dirt on my hands…. I’m a down home, born and bred, thank my momma country fed workin’ hard to get ahead, Typical Southern Man Well my pickup trucks more than a few years old it’s got dents and scrapes from the woods back home It smokes a bit, and it rattles alot, But if it breaks, I’ll fix it, not some rip-off shop I don’t need no fancy Automobile, to prove I’m a man, that’s the way I feel Just get me where I’m going, it’s an easy plan I’m a down home, born and bred, thank my momma country fed workin’ hard to get ahead, Typical Southern Man My house ain’t fancy, but it’s what I call home, Daddy bought it for momma when he sold the farm They left it to me when the angels sang, And when they sing for me, lord. I’ll do the same I don’t need no fancy house with a two car garage, To prove I’m a man, that I’m livin’ large I’m just ridin high on the natural plan I’m a down home, born and bred, thank my momma country fed workin’ hard to get ahead, Typical Southern Man I’m a down home, born and bred, thank my momma country fed workin’ hard to get ahead, Typical Southern Man

The Devils Highway © Cowboy BobSawyer - 2003 Left a man back in Laredo, My bullet in his head Shot down in cold blood, playin with fire in another mans bed No it wasn’t my hand that killed that man, But that won’t save me from the noose Only me an’ God, and a girl named fire Will ever know the truth So Tonight I’ll ride, the Devils highway Gotta hundred demon cowboys, on my trail If I ride all night, by mornin’s light, I can make the Rio Grande And the Devils daughter breathes fire…again I thought she was my woman, I thought she’d be my wife But when you play in Satans playground, Lord, your playin with your life She bent my mind so I’d see red, In a rage that she kept stoked She took the life of an innocent man trying to steal this cowboys soul So Tonight I’ll ride, the Devils highway Gotta hundred demon cowboys, on my trail If I ride all night, by mornin’s light, I can make the Rio Grande And the Devils daughter breathes fire…again Across the Mexican Border, Just south of the Rio Grande They say there lives an old outlaw, who snatched his fate from fires hand Yeah I bet my soul, against a bag of gold that I could reach the border that night She killed a man, put his blood on my hands, but now I dance in fires light Cause that night I rode, the Devils highway, Had a hundred demon cowboys, on my trail I rode all night, and at mornin’s light, I crossed the Rio Grande And left the Devils daughter breathin fire… again
